Moha Sets New Benchmarks for the Perfect Punjabi Makki-di-Roti

DIY Cooking How to Make Makki Di Roti Pic
Moha's Makki Di Roti
It has been a blend of poor health, slow recovery, great food and trying to scrape my way to better health this winter season in Delhi. The food part is what am going to share today and I say this without a shadow of doubt that my wife, Moha is perhaps the best cook when it comes to truly north Indian food. Anyone in Delhi can challenge us and we will be ready with our gastronomic wisdom and the fortitude to take upon the most challenging recipes. Why am I babbling about like this?

Something Soulful about Gajar Ka Halwa: Addictive Winter Feasting

Cat Humor Pic - Overating Desserts in Delhi Winters

Am a typical Punjabi in many ways, including the gastronomic preferences. It is winter season these days and my sweet tooth cravings guide me toward one direction only – a bowl of heavily roasted Gajar Halwa, overwhelmed with almonds and cashews. Why?

There is no substitute for it! There is no other sweet preparation in or around the city that comes even close to the flavor of blood red carrots, slowly cooked for hours.Yes, there are many commercial eateries that put-up this winter season treat for folks like me but honestly, the retailed version is never up to the mark. The variety prepared by my wife has been patiently cooked for hours, sometimes spread over a couple of days without taking the shortcut of adding condensed milk or excess khoya. The difference can be seen, and felt, in the first bite. Moha’s version of Gajar Halwa has that laidback smokiness to it.

Why is winter dressing about Greys, followed by fanaticism for Black and Deep Blues?

Wearning Red, Black, Blue | Funny Cat
It is very wintery in Delhi and all around me, including my office, people finding their way on the road, and folks behind the steering wheel are dressed-up, creating layers to insulate them against the chill. However, my floating observation took me to a realization – there is an overkill of Grey colored clothing, even the accessories are overcooked in shades of blue and black. From what I can fathom, Winters can be somewhat depressing. Some folks suffer from winter-induced clinical depression too but overall, the season is about Christmas, New Year and plans & resolutions. The monotony of these shades is a big contrast to the feel-good vibes which comes with loving every sip of coffee, that feeling of warmth that coats your throat every time you pounce on dark chocolate. My winter wardrobe is as colorful it can get without getting weird.
